Meera's  Pov

The Kapoor family wedding rehearsals were less about dance and more about chaos disguised as coordination.
Kids were running around with confetti, uncles were debating who danced better back in their college days, and someone had already spilled juice on the carpet.

I had planned to slip in quietly, sit in a corner, and cheer for my cousin Riya from a safe, non-participatory distance.

Simple. Peaceful. Drama-free.

At least, that was the plan — until fate (or possibly bad timing) decided to humiliate me.

Because the second I turned the corner, someone crashed right into me.

"Whoa—"

Before I could blink, my iced coffee splashed down the front of my pastel pink dress. Cold. Sticky. Ruined.

{ 💌 Okay be honest—who's at fault here? Meera or mystery guy? 👀}

"Are you kidding me?!" I gasped, staring in horror at the spreading stain.

"Whoa, hey, I'm sorry," said a deep voice — smooth, confident, and annoyingly amused.

I looked up, ready to lash out.

Tall. Sharp jawline. Rolled-up sleeves. That maddening grin.
He looked like he'd stepped straight out of a cologne ad — and was fully aware of it.

He tilted his head, eyes glinting. "Didn't think I'd get greeted so dramatically. Missed me that much?"

I blinked. "Excuse me?"

He smiled wider. "You bumped into me, you know."

"I— what— No! You weren't even looking where you were going!"

He chuckled softly, the sound low and lazy. "Relax, princess. You look even prettier when you're mad."

My blood boiled. "You—! I don't know who you think you are, but maybe next time, use your eyes!"

And before he could throw another smug line, I spun around and stormed out of the hall — coffee dripping, pride barely intact.

Behind me, I heard him laugh under his breath.
"Still fiery. Some things never change."

                                                                  ✨ ☕ ✨

Nishant's Pov

Ten years away from India, and the first thing I get on returning?
A coffee shower.

Classic.

I barely had time to catch my balance when the girl in front of me looked up — furious, indignant, beautiful.

For a second, my brain short-circuited.
Because I knew those eyes.

Meera Kapoor.

The same Meera who once tried to bury my sneakers in the garden when we were kids.
The same Meera whose temper could set off fire alarms.

And now? She'd grown up — softer hair, sharper glare. Still very Meera.

I couldn't help the grin that tugged at my lips.
"Didn't think I'd get greeted so dramatically. Missed me that much?"

Her expression said she'd rather throw the coffee cup at my head.

She argued, huffed, rolled her eyes — and walked off, muttering under her breath.

I watched her go, that familiar spark of amusement bubbling up again.
Still fiery. Still impossible.
Some things never change.

                                                                  ✨ ☕ ✨

Meera's Pov

I stood in the restroom, trying to dry my dress with tissue and a hand dryer.
"Great. Just perfect," I muttered to my reflection. "First five minutes in and I already look like a walking coffee advertisement."

After ten minutes of damage control and half-dried hair, I walked back out, determined to avoid whoever that arrogant man was.

By the time I returned — dress semi-dried, mood definitely not — the hall was buzzing with music and laughter.

And there he was again.

The same man. Standing right in the center of the room, perfectly at ease, surrounded by my aunts, uncles, and cousins like he owned the place.

I was two steps away from my safe corner when my mother's voice rang out like a siren.
"Meera! Come here, beta!"

Uh-oh.

My mother, Ananya Kapoor beamed. "Look who's here! Nishant Oberoi! You remember him, right? The Oberois' son — your childhood friend!"

I blinked. Brain short-circuiting.
Wait... Nishant?

My stomach dropped.

Nishant Oberoi.

{ 💌 Plot twist! Did YOU expect it to be someone from her past?💬

The same boy who once dunked my hair in the swimming pool.
Who'd tied my shoelaces together at a family picnic.
Who'd moved to London — and apparently returned as the kind of man who made half the women in the hall whisper.

And I'd just yelled at him.

He caught my eye across the room — and winked.

"Oh, we've already met," he said smoothly. "She made quite the impression."

I glared. "Oh, really? Because I recall you ruining my outfit."

He chuckled. "A minor accident. But I must admit — you handle coffee disasters beautifully."

"Keep talking, Oberoi. I might test that theory again."

My mother laughed, oblivious to the tension. "You two are still the same! Always arguing!"

"Old habits die hard," he said, eyes gleaming. "Besides, she started it."

I opened my mouth to argue, but before I could, Riya elbowed me. "Oh my god, Meera, you remember Nishant, right? He's back! And—"
She gave a low whistle. "Damn, he aged well."

"Yeah," I muttered. "Like a bad idea."

Nishant's Pov

I tried not to laugh when Ananya Aunty practically dragged Meera toward me.
Her expression was priceless — a mix of horror, disbelief, and barely-contained rage.

"Oh, we've already met," I said with a grin. "She made quite the impression."

She snapped something about ruined outfits, and I couldn't resist teasing her.
Watching her glare felt... weirdly nostalgic.

Same spark. Same fire. Just a little older, a little sharper.
If I wasn't careful, I might actually start enjoying this.

                                                                 ✨ ☕ ✨

Meera's Pov

"Meera, time for dance practice! Bring Nishant also!" Disha called from across the hall.

"Come on, they're waiting," Riya said, tugging at my arm.

I followed reluctantly, muttering silent curses under my breath.
Nishant walked beside me, calm and confident, clearly enjoying every second of my discomfort.

"So," he said casually, "happy meeting me."

"More like karma's punishing me," I shot back.

He chuckled. "If this is punishment, I can't wait to see what reward looks like."

"Unbelievable," I muttered.

"Come on," he teased. "You can't still be mad about the coffee. You look... cute when you're annoyed."

I stopped walking and glared at him. "You think flirting fixes everything, don't you?"

He smiled, leaning closer. "It usually does."

I stepped back, pretending my heart didn't just stutter.
"Not with me."

He grinned. "We'll see."

The choreographer clapped her hands. "Okay everyone! Time to pair up for the couple's dance. Let's go, chop-chop!"

I instantly stepped back. "No, no, no. I'm fine watching—"

"Meera!" Riya interrupted, her grin devilish. "You're paired with Nishant."

💌 ARE YOU READY FOR THE DRAMA?💃

 Do you think they'll fight... or feel something?  💬}

My jaw fell open. "You can't be serious!"

"Oh, I'm very serious."

The crowd cheered like someone had announced a cricket match.

And then he walked over, every step confident, eyes glinting with trouble.
"So," he said, extending his hand, "we meet again, Miss Coffee Attack."

"I should've spilled the whole cup," I muttered.

He grinned. "Still mad, huh? You've got to admit, fate clearly wants us together."

"Fate has a terrible sense of humor."

"Or impeccable taste."

The cousins began whistling and chanting, "Ooooh, chemistryyy!"

I shot them a death glare. "Traitors."

"Alright!" the choreographer called out. "Chemistry, people! Pretend you're in love!"

I snorted. "That's going to need divine intervention."

He leaned in, whispering, "I think we can fake it pretty well."

His hand found my waist — warm, steady.
My breath hitched before I could stop it.

"You're tense," he murmured. "Relax. I won't bite."

"I'm trying not to step on your ego."

He chuckled, leaning closer. "Careful, Meera. You keep saying my name like that, I might start liking it too much."

My heart skipped a beat.
I hated that it did.

We twirled, turned, moved — awkwardly at first, then effortlessly.
Every time I tried to roll my eyes, he smirked like he could see right through me.

By the final beat, everyone clapped.

He smirked. "For someone who claims to hate me, you sure can't stop looking at me, Meera."

"Please. I was just making sure your ego didn't trip you on stage."

He leaned in, voice low. "Too late, sweetheart. You already did."

💌 Okay... tension much?!😳

Tell me honestly—did you feel the chemistry or am I imagining things? 💬}

Nishant's Pov

The moment she smiled — that small, unwilling curve of her lips when we got the final step right — I knew I was in trouble.

This wasn't just nostalgia anymore.
This was attraction — sharp, inconvenient, and entirely out of my control.

When I teased her about staring, she fired back perfectly.
God, I'd missed this. Missed her.

She walked away after the dance, pretending not to care.
But I saw the faint color in her cheeks.

And maybe for the first time, I thought—
If fate really had a sense of humor, I wasn't going to complain.

                                                                 ✨ ☕ ✨

Meera's Pov

Riya appeared beside me, practically glowing. "That was perfect! I swear, you two are like fire and ice."

"I'd prefer oil and water," I muttered.

"So..." she teased. "You yelled at him. Danced with him. Almost fell into his arms. Classic rom-com energy."

"If my life were a rom-com," I sighed, "I'd like a refund."

Across the room, Nishant was surrounded by family — laughing, charming everyone — and occasionally glancing my way.
Each glance made my stomach twist annoyingly.

And when his eyes met mine again, he winked.

I looked away quickly.
I told myself I didn't care.

But somehow, his words lingered—

Still fiery. Some things never change.

And for the first time that evening... I wasn't sure if that was an insult — or a promise.
